OPERATION OF THE DEM DUTY OFFICER PAGERS
(Motorola Minitor V Alert Monitor Receiver)

TONE ALERT PAGERS (These instructions are for the Minitor Model V.  Group 2 pagers may be Model IV.  If you have a Model IV receiver, contact the EOC for instructions).
Group 1 pagers Emergency Management Staff and EOC Duty Officer-qualified personnel
Group 2 pagers EOC Incident Management Team members and essential partner agency points of contact.
TIPS FOR USING THE PAGER
EOC Duty Officer settings For all alerts use Position A (tone) or D (vibrate).  For EOC Duty Officer alerts use Position C.  When on scheduled duty, answer all "EOC Duty Officer" alerts (see EOC Duty Officer Checklist).
Charging The unit can be charged while it's on.  When the pager is inserted in the charger, the light will indicate charging in progress.  The indicator will change to green when charging is complete.
Channel monitoring Our receivers are programmed to the fire alert frequency (153.860 mHz).  The radio traffic you will hear will be the fire primary (Jeffcom and local fire districts).  You can monitor all fire communications by setting the FUNCTION switch to position B, or receive a tone only by setting the FUNCTION switch to A, C, or D (see options below under "Function Choices").
Stored message When a tone alert is received, the message heard through the speaker but also stored in memory.  To playback a message in memory, press the PLAYBACK button (in the center of the FUNCTION switch).  Pressing once replays the newest message in memory.  Turning the unit OFF deletes all messages in memory.  Other communications received (other than the alert message) are not stored.
Unread message indicator The red LED (ALERT INDICATOR) lights if there are any unheard messages.  The amber ALERT INDICATOR lights for messages read but still in memory.
Low battery indicator The red LED BATTERY ALERT INDICATOR will flash is the battery is too low for reliable operation.
Reset button After receipt of a coded message the alert monitor will automatically reset to the operational mode.  The reset button can be pressed to silence the pager and return it to the monitor function.
BASIC OPERATION OF THE TONE ALERT RECEIVER:
Turn the unit ON Use the rotating ON/OFF - VOLUME knob.  Turn it a few degrees clockwise until an audible tone (or vibration) indicates it is turned on.
Volume The volume can be set with the same ON/OFF - VOLUME knob.  Turning the knob clockwise increases the volume of the tone alert and the message.
Function choices The FUNCTION switch is configured in 4 positions.  Each position has a different purpose.  Here are the FUNCTION switch options:
Position A Receives an audible tone alert for all major tone sequences, including general alarms, the county-wide "all call", the EOC Duty Officer tone and EOC Tone 2.
Position B Is the open monitor position.  When the selector is in Position B all radio traffic on the fire primary can be monitored.
Position C Is the Duty Officer tone receive position in Group 1 pagers.  When in Position C the receiver remains quiet until the EOC Duty Officer tone is transmitted from Jeffcom.  For Group 2 pagers, the message is only activated for an EOC 2 alert.  Group 2 pagers do not receive a Duty Officer tone in Position C.
Position D Programmed the same as Position A, except it activates in the VIBRATE mode instead of the open tone.
